Things have changed since then, just as it did in 1988 when Ronnie, his Brother Anand, together with brother in-Law Peru Chetty bought the enterprise from it’s original owners. In buying the Hotel they fulfilled a long-held dream inspired by their late brother Jerry, namely to own his own hotel and bottle store.

OUR STORY

Kismet was built in the early 1960`s and in 1988 was taken over by the Kisten Chetty Family whom still run the family business to date. Fifty One years ago, when Kismet hotel was built, a double room without bath would have set you back R2.50 per night... those wanting extra luxury could specify ''with bath'' for an extra R1.00.

In 2015/ 2016 Kismet Hotel had begun with another renovation project to update the design and look & feel of the rooms catering for the needs of our valued modernized clients.

Kismet Hotel is centrally located in the CDB of Pietermarmaritzburg. We are full members of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Grading Council and are constantly upgrading and renovating to date. We have recently been promoted to a two star graded hotel with 24 rooms, a ballroom/ hall (able to cater for 200 people), two bars, a tote with limited payout machines, all under one roof.
